Goooooood morning/day/evening campers! That's write, (pun intended) it's that time of year again when we all file onto the bus of literary adventure! Grab your bedrolls and canteens of coffee cause it's going to be a wild ride! We're at the witching hour and, though I know we're all excited for the s'mores and slightly charred bits of hot dog from the delectable feast that is our writing accomplishments, we first have to slog through and march and hike to the very campsite!
We must make this trek in just a few days! So, whether you've meticulously packed for this trip and somehow condensed three bags worth of stuff into one well designed backpack or you're like me and you're still deciding between which pair of shoes to put on, we'll all be flying off and writing on our destined novels in just two days. Consider this your morning reveille to board the bus! This long journey is about to begin!
So, are you freaking out yet? Yup. I'm right there with you. (Write there with you?) But! You can't let doubt get the best of you. I know what you're thinking and, yes, these are the usual plagues we writers must push through before we can taste that sweet oasis of literary abandon. Business crept up on you and now you're too damn busy to deal with Camp NaNo. Just remember, it's a story that's trying to burst out of you. You can't just let it happen when you've got a wink of time or two, no, you've got to tackle this beast of a tale and compact it into a book. You have to make the time to write and, luckily, this is an easier event than we tried to take on in November! Heck, just a few months ago we tried to harpoon a leviathan from the darkest depths of the ocean, this little stray bear should be a piece of cake! Or, y'know, if you want to invite the bear over for cake, that works too. But if you have the time for baking, you have the time for writing too! I know how long most cakes take to bake. You can slam a paragraph or two. That idea you had back at the beginning of March looking a bit tarnished? I can guarantee it's still silver underneath. You just have to give it a little tender love and care. Or, perhaps, you're still digging through sand hoping for diamonds to turn up? Plow onward, my dear camper. Even with the potential bite of feeling lost with your idea, it's only the feeling of a first draft creeping up on you. After all, every precious metal/idea has to go through several stages of refining before it can be called flawless, right?
Now, of course, there are a dozen more, but those are the big two. It's like one is the left hand and the other's the right in this boxing match against that bear of a book you're about to dive into the ring with! (Don't worry campers, the mud wrestling pits aren't open until week two!) Still reading? Good. It means you're not put off by all my strange camp euphemisms. Or maybe you are put off and you're just curious if my jokes and puns are going to get any better. Warning. They only get worse. It's all downhill from here, which, really, in the idea of NaNo... it'll only help you get the ball rolling!
So dive right in campers! Week one is open rope swings into the lake of vast ideas and beginnings! Welcome to Camp 2015!

I just noticed this thread (I don't check the site too often, but bounce in now and again as I wait for more Nano-shinanigans) and wish I could join you all. I'm moving this month, so I won't be able to write! :( So you all do your best and don't mind me stalking the topic. >> (Eventually I will go back and read the first three pages instead of skimming over... eventually.)
Good Luck Lovelies! Remember to have fun!

And we're off!
Not sure if anyone needs anything yet, but your prompts for the day are~~~
exhaustion ~someone in your story is exhausted. Why? What did they do to deplete all of their energy? ~they have used all of the planned supplies for a journey! what are they supposed to do now? what to do when all the pudding is eaten?? (sorry, I'm really tired, lol) wide ~whether it be a chasm, an ocean, or the sky itself, describe something vast and wide with increased detail ~a character has made a long journey and came a long way. They put great distance between them and something else. What is this something else? Why does it pertain to your story? name ~Your character doubts, for a moment, the validity of their own name. Whether it be a spur of insanity, an out of body experience, or a moment of complete revelation at who they really are, there is something wrong with your character's name. ~Your character gives something else a name. Nick name, pet name, flat out wrong name, what have you, this is an interesting quirk your character now has.
I dare you dare you double dog dare you
MAGIC! There is suddenly a magician in your story of sorts! Are they really performing magic? Is it false? Is this a test of your own character's magical prowess? Perhaps a future villain? Or, really, maybe a comedic wannabe villain who will never be taken seriously? A one time deal who, in the events of a puppet show, actually releasesboundless escaping rabbits! This magical person is your dare for day one!
Write on campers! This is your first step towards the lake of inspiration!

Also! Extra random little diddly doo is that I miiiight be a little late with the first write-in seeing as I will still be at school at this time. It shouldn't be a problem, but figured I'd give you the heads-up now! I will not be missing it! But I may be hosting a bit later than expected!

Goooooood afternoon campers! How's your writing going? Have you delved into the sweet lake yet? The water's warm! C'mon in! Planning on joining the write-in today? Make sure to toss IntenseMoose/Camp Counse"lore" Snow a message when you're ready! Scoring a classroom to do it in is just marvelous, isn't it? So! Here are some marvewonderful scores of your prompts and dare for day numbah two!
ART! ~Your character(s) come across some incredible piece of art! What do they do with it? Is it stolen? Have they found the lost relic to open the gates to Atlantis? Is it a song that transcends all existence? There is now an artistic piece in your novel! ~Your character now struggles with trying to invent a piece! They must now have an artistic goal in mind! What internal and external conflicts will arise around this artwork? False Victory ~Just when your character thinks they've won/succeeded, it turns out they are back on square one! How'd they get back to the start of the forest? Where'd they get turned around? Goodness gracious... ~The villain is defeated! Haha! Take that you false magician from the last Dare! Oh wait... did they just grown into a bat demon of hell? Are they now a warlock that is now incredibly difficult to defeat? Well crap. Now what?? Internal Battle ~Your character has an internal battle with their own thoughts, they can't seem to figure something out about themselves. This is a wonderful opportunity to give your audience some insight as to how your character thinks. ~A DIFFERENT character is going through an internal battle! You are restricted from explaining their thoughts and now have to do it through descriptive facial expressions and gestures! (This is one of my favorite writing exercises too! Have fun with it!)
I dare you dare you double dog dare you!
BANG CRASH THE LIGHTNING FLASHED AND that's another story, another time, any way~ --
Give a great build up to some dramatic side story and drop it off completely, leaving your audience wondering what the hell happened and will they ever know? This is a great moment to plot something that will be powerful/important later in the future!
+2 point for those who get the reference~

Campers! I come with a small chart of assistance for those who may need it (though do not go back and fix any past mistakes!) Also: A way to cheat the word count: if it is a contraction, do not use it! Use both words and it'll make a hell of a difference at the end. Mwah!

Good pre-evening my lovely campers! Are you ready for s'mores around the campfire tonight? How's the writing? Are we ready to head out and enjoy the fruits of our labor through some star-gazing on this wonderful day? However your writing journey is going, remember, we're only at the starting point! This is the gateway to your novel! Write on, campers! Write on!
And now~! For your DAY THUHRREEE~ prompts! Precision ~Your character made a dead-on shot. They tossed something and it landed precisely where they wanted. That bullet hit its mark, that arrow flew perfect, heck, you skipped that stone completely across a river and to the other side! Your character somehow manages to do something with precision. ~They are spot-on accurate with a guess. It doesn't have to be the first try, but they guessed the riddle perfectly. Perhaps they just fore-shadowed someone's plan for the future? There's some form of precision in judgement your character has given! What is it? Conversation ~Spontaneous conversation! Someone either strikes up conversation with your character or your character strikes up conversation with them! This is a wonderful opportunity to slam some dialogue and come back in to toss in some actions and gestures behind it! Show off just how different these two characters are (or how same they are??) ~There's a conversation going on between your character and... no one? They are either talking to themselves or something that cannot hear/answer them. A good time for verbal reflection of your character! Scales ~There's something that is completely off-balance! Your character now has to use their judgement to balance the scale whether it be physical or mental or emotional or even between other characters! A great opportunity to show off your character's alignment! (Chaotic-Neutral, Lawful-good, etc.) ~Beast be lurkin' beyond these parts... there is something with scales and a nasty attitude awaiting your character... a dragon? a snake? a hippogriff with a bad case of eczema? Something is scaley and waiting... spooooky~~~
Dare you dare you double dog dare you!
BACK IT UP!
Wait wait wait wait, hold up... what did that character just say?? Have your character backpedal or realize something that they missed the first time! A door that wasn't there before? A now obvious clue that was in plain sight? A confession to a crime that they originally took in passing? Something that was at first given face-value has turned out to be something more! Your character now has to go back and find it!
p.s. this is your friendly neighborhood counse"lore" reminding you to save your stories both on your computer, a flash drive, and to email it to yourself!

You do something fan-freakin'tastic in your writing writers? Well that's a silly question, you're writing! That's pretty fanfreakin'tastic all by itself! Give a victory whoop for you!
Whoop whoop!
Here's a song to celebrate you writing this April!
Also, feel free to toss out any accomplishments that make you feel so good~ (dun dun) so good (dun dun)-- er, ahem, sorry. Got a little carried away there.
My current accomplishment is that I totally just nailed down a sweet transition. Bam.
What about you guys? (*even if it's not writing?)
