I don't play much outside of the MMO department lately. Not for lack of trying... ( you should have seen the two hour rage fest that was Minecraft, and lets just not go over my stellar record of Meat Shield that makes up my FPS attempts)
Recently, the game world has presented us with millions of choices, but it is hard to pin down exactly what each and everyone wants to play. Sometimes, the oldies and good ones are destroyed for lack of interest or the companies go to the Pay To Win mentality that drives everyone off. Sure, there is the current big baddy out there, but that does require a subscription and a bit of time, and very patient friends to make the experience enjoyable. Anyone that has played that has eventually been burned out and wants nothing to do with it. Understandable. So, how about some of the others?
Currently, there are a few options in the Free to Play market.
Archeage --- Korean in origin, yes. You can opt for a subscription. Do you need one? Oh heck no! There is even a chance for a third faction! Granted, I have not gotten far on this game, but I have found it incredibly rewarding and a fantastic break from my normal MMO poison. ( Warning: GIANT FRICKING BUGS! Including but not limited to : Spiders, Mantis, Ants...etc... I don't think my friends have ever heard me squeak and squirm so uncomfortably as when we discovered the GIANT ANTS OF EVIL! ; - ; )
Terra --- Another Korean in origin. Controls are far different than your standard MMORPG. It is dynamic and in real time. This includes everything from casting while moving, and enemy controls. It is really an experience that isn't for everyone, but recommended to at least try once. Graphics, though, are pretty darn amazing.
Star Wars: The Old Republic --- NOT KOREAN, but it is still far different than your standard MMO. Another refreshing change from what you would normally find, and a curious class system in place. If you love the Star Wars universe, this is definetly something to pick up. Be aware that this takes far in the past where the Republic is the long standing big bad and the Sith is the upstarts and rebels. It is quite the change if one hasn't been keen on really delving into the lore of Star Wars past the Cannonical Movies.
Star Trek Online: ... Two Words: TRIBBLE BREEDING!!! Okay, so that might not really hook others. You have two different combat styles thrown into one MMO. You have your Ship and you have your individual characters. Both are highly customizable, and both can make or break your experience. It's content is divided into what the developer calls 'Episodes'. A bit clunky at times, but it is very entertaining once one gets the hang of things. It appears to be set many years after Star Trek Generations. You'll find many familiar faces in there from the Television shows, and a few names that may be familiar.
Wildstar -- ...okay, so this one is quirky...and I am afraid I never saw it outside of Beta. : ( But it is very beautiful, cartoony, and very gimicky. But, also quite fun.

If you know of others that you play and would like to add to the list, please post them below. If you want to add to the description of those above, feel free! Especially if you ahve a play group together already. It is always fun to play with others. : )
